Soška "Rovnováha"

"Equilibrium" statue. Erected as part of the design of the information desk for the entrance hall interior of the Czech Anthroposophical Society in Prague, the statue is made of lime wood and carved in a smaller scale (1:10). I created this sketch during a woodcarving seminar lead by Jana Koen. Inspiration for this statue was taken from the carving Rudolf Steiner designed for the bottom part of the main stairway banister inside the I. Goetheanum building, which expresses the fundamental form-creating forces of nature in relation to man. It presents an equal manifestation of the main trends a person experiences in relation to matter. Upward and downward movement, sideways movement and forward and backward movement.

interiors Antroposofické společnosti

Interiors of the Anthroposophical Society. The forms of the interior elements and the entrance doors to the hall come from Goethean morphology and organic architecture forms.  The interiors are made from natural materials, predominantly oak. The oak floor, laid on a soft base, is a significant element of the interior. Its softness is suitable for performing arts and for eurhythmics. The floor has a wood oil finish. Project photos

design rodinného house v Brandýse nad Labem

Low-energy house design in Brandýs nad Labem including interiors. Geomancy surveys and the incorporation of feng-shui principles were included in the preparation phase. The house layout was designed so that rooms containing beds were situated away from ground water zones, guaranteeing a healthy regenerative sleep. The house is built from healthy building material and has a low-energy standard. The outer walls are made from heat insulation bricks and are additionally insulated with a 7 cm thick Baumit heat insulation plaster. The developed area of the house is 120 m2. The wider side of the floor plan, containing bedrooms and living rooms, faces south. Therefore sunshine from the south and west penetrates the windows and provides heating in cooler periods. On the north side of the house are the staircase, bathroom, WC and boiler room. This way the house is thermally zoned, contributing to energy saving. Radiators and low-temperature floor heating provide heating for the house. Electrical heating into the storage tank is used as a heat source. The system uses solar collectors and a fireplace situated in the living room for additional heating. Project photos

project low-energy rodinného house

Low-energy family house near Prague including geomancy and feng-shui. A house made of healthy building material with conservatory garden and interior accumulative unfired brick walls.

For more information about the project, see the article In the Feng Shui style.

The rooms of the house are arranged according to their function in relation to the points of the compass. Warm bedrooms and living rooms are situated on the southeast, south and southwest. Cooler rooms face the north. According to the principles of feng-shui, the house has a free and relaxes centre, formed by an oval cavity in the ceiling in the middle of the staircase. The inside temperature and humidity of the house is balanced and regulated by massive unfired brick walls, referred to as accumulative walls. The round wall surrounding the staircase is one such wall, with a cavity in it. Warm air is driven into the cavity during the transitional periods of the year, and withdrawn from the cavity between the glass panes of the conservatory. The wall warms up in this manner and emits heat, providing heat in the spring and autumn.  In summer, air cooled in the ground collector flows into the hollow walls, so the climate inside the house is pleasant throughout the whole year.
